Chutney & Pickles making is a great way to use up a glut of fruit. Great with cheese, in your burger, or add a tablespoon to a curry.
You can make all sorts of chutneys and pickles
e.g. Runner Bean, Plum, Red Tomato, Green Tomato, Marrow, Apple, mixed vegetable, courgette.
The difference between pickle and chutney. Both are made with vegetables or fruit cooked in vinegar, but pickles contain a lot less vinegar, are not cooked as long, and have a shorter ‘life’. I have eaten chutneys that are 2 years old and they are fine, whereas pickles should be eaten within 3 months.
